As you can see, I can’t get enough of the super cute Beary Special Birthday Stamp set from My Favorite Things! If you read my previous post, you saw how I use some patterned paper to make the background for a birthday card using an image from this stamp set. If you haven’t checked out that post, click here to view it. For this card, I decided to use the bear who has eaten way too much cake and can’t get up! It is super cute, and I can relate to this bear when I have had WAY too much dessert on my birthday!
I chose to use Tim Holtz distress ink to watercolor the bear and cake. I stamped the image used Versafine Black Onyx ink to stamp out my image onto watercolor paper. I then added clear embossing powder and heat set it. I always do heat embossing when I watercolor because it helps me keep the color within the lines. I pressed the ink pads onto a glass work surface and picked up the colors using a wet brush and painted the stamped image with the following colors: picked raspberry, seedless preserves, brushed corduroy, and antique linen.
While my stamped image was drying, I cut a circle out of Bristol smooth paper with a stitched circle die. I used a blending tool to color the circle with raspberry and seedless preserves. I attached the colored image to the circle with some foam tape and added a subtle amount of glitter over the cake in with a Zig Wink of Stella pen. I glued the circle onto the center of a patterned card stock cut using a 3×3 dotted square die. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment on the outside and “so much cake, so little room” on the inside with memento dew drops ink in sweet plum. I attached the entire piece to a 4×4 top folding notecard. I love sparkle, so I added some sequins to finish it off!
